“The Quotable Paul: An Ideal Husband”

  • Sermon, Pastor DeMass
  • text: Ep 5.22-33
  • Our chief duty as husbands is to love our wife.
  • Love is the sum of our duty to God and to man.
  • Love is the principle which leads one moral being to seek delight and joy in another.
    • We are to desire and delight in our wife and are to find our joy in imparting ourselves to her.
  • Love is a deep unity, maintained by the will, deliberately strengthened by habit.
    • Love is not an emotion, it is a choice.
  • ASK YOUR WIFE GOOD QUESTIONS.
    • Draw her out
  • LISTEN TO HER ANSWERS
    • don’t interrupt
    • what are your non-verbal actions indicating?
    • do you follow up?
  • TAKE THE FIRST STEP IN RECONCILIATION
  • SHARE YOUR LIFE WITH HER
  • An ideal husband will not only be willing to die for his bride, but also to daily live for her and serve her.
  • The next time your wife hurts you, may God give you the strength to return grace to her.
    • Love your wife as you are loved by Christ.
  • Forgive your wife the same way you forgive yourself.
  • Loving an unloving spouse is exactly what Jesus did.
  • Let us give our wives a thousand expressions of our daily love.
