Sermon, Dr. Rayburn: "Followers of Jesus"


  • text: Mk 1.14-20

  • Jesus' message started out the same as John's–"repent!" People went out to see John; Jesus went out among the people.

  • A genuine conversion is, as shown in the text, a wholehearted recognition of who Christ is and devotion to Him and a leaving of all else to follow Him.

  • Just as the wind and waves, the demons, and yea even the dead obey Him, the disciples must needs obey Christ's summons.

  • "Thy kingdom come" is not only our prayer, but our agenda.

  • In order to be a follower of Christ today, there must be "net leaving" in your life. What nets have you left?
