Sermon, Dr. Rayburn:"…Make Disciples…"

  • text: Mt 28.16-20

  • The Greek grammar makes it clear that we make disciples by baptizing and teaching.

  • It is the Spirit who does this work in us, the water is only a sign.

  • We are called not to evoke "decisions," but to make disciples. Decisions are easy to come by, but discipling is hard work. Jesus said to make disciples, not converts.

  • A disciple, by definition, follows the instructions of his teacher.

  • It takes a disciple to make a disciple.
